Snow Covered Ground at the end of March

IMG_4127Well, my daughter is still totally “off” the idea of our morning trips to EggCetera.  So, pictures of beautiful omelettes in my morning entries are going to be a bit few and far between.  My apologies.  You should always Protein Shakeopt for that if your time and/or energy allows.  But, as usual, I ingested my Isagenix (isagenix.com) Protein Shake this morning.  Love that chocolate, almond butter, vanilla, and honey taste.  Hard to beat it.  And, as I walked out of the kitchen, I IMG_4231grabbed about 5 strawberries to enjoy with my Organic Unsweetened Black Tea that I just got from Mighty Tea Leaf.   They were awesome.  And, the tea was too!  (mightyleaf.com)

IMG_4099As most of you know, I always have a tendency to want to get some more in my belly about 10:30 am.  And, today was no exception.   Another Isagenix Protein Shake (with Denatured Whey Protein solely sourced from Grass Fed New Zealand free range cattle!) down the chute!

IMG_4232Today, I headed for my normal Lunch outing at Skys the Limit Crossfit.  Great Workout.  But, the 58 pullups weren’t exactly what my hands were hoping to experience for the day.  As you can see, sometimes exercise is hard.  In fact, the truth is:  Sometimes, LIFE IS HARD.   (Perhaps you should wear a helmet.)

Protein ShakeAnyhow, I decided to go straight on home (instead of my normal stop at Grande Street Cafe).  And, as a result, that which awaited my belly was another Isagenix Protein Shake.  Yes.  I am serious.  And, Yes.  I looked forward to it and enjoyed it just as much as the first one I drank this morning!

As the afternoon wears on, I rarely make it to the dinner hour without a bit of tide-me-over sustenance.  If you are trying to lose weight….and, are not that concerned with new muscle….I would suggest photoyou try to get through on some raw almonds and a bit of water or ice tea.  Since I am not trying to really lose weight….so much as I am trying to maybe get a tad leaner and add some more muscle………I deemed that it would be quite all right for me to grab a few little bites of my all time favorite Colby Jack Cheese (from Trader Joe’s) and a bit of Raw Almond Butter into which my organic apple slices.  (I took a bit of Iced Tea with me.  I think that may have been just for decor…..cuz later, I had one of the gals bring me up “Old Trusty”….my Camelbak water bottle.  And, most of the IMG_4079liquid that I ingested this afternoon came from that.)  Either way, the apple slices were fantastic.  I had my wife switch us to Pink Lady Organics.  They are a little less sweet.  And, that is how I like them with my Almond Butter!  Mmmmmm.  Can hardly wait to head for dinner.  (Unlike you, I already know what we are having!)

IMG_4226In case you are worrying yourself, please don’t.  I did have my “before dinner” tide-me-over….in the form of a handful of raw almonds.  Remember, let’s not graze on these little guys all day long.  But, they are a fantastic source of the “good fat” (Omega 3).  And, your body does need them.  (And, they can help get you through to dinner in lieu of a handful of Fritos etc…..and, the resulting glycemic spike!)

……….And, my lovely wife’s meal for the evening?………..No.  You did not guess it.  She made us sandwiches.  And, as you can see, they were short one ingredient that we have all come to expect in our sandwiches….that IMG_4238being the bread!  In place of a fat couple of slabs of enriched wheat flour bread, she used pan roasted chicken.  Yes.  As the bread.  It is a little messier than bread.  But, it is soooo much more tasty!  In addition to the pan roasted chicken, we got a bunch of other goodies inside our “sandwich”…..fresh avocado, tomatoes, onions, romaine lettuce, a dollop of REAL mayo, some bacon (sourced from free range pigs), and a couple of pieces of my favorite Trader Joe Colby Jack cheese.   As you can see, she “paired” that entree with a bunch of brussel sprouts which were lightly browned in coconut oil and real butter and sea salt.  (We had a bottle of 2003 Quorom open.  And, you put it all together.  And, David was a very happy boy!)

I didn’t want for much else after that wonderful dinner.  As you might imagine, my body’s IMG_4219insulin levels were pretty much flat as a pancake all day long…..no spikes….and, no crashes.  And, as a result, I didn’t feel any of the resulting glycemic yearning that the rest of the country started feeling about one hour after completion of their evening meal.  So, I didn’t go grab myself a small bowl of ice cream to finish off my night………I hope you didn’t either!  Good “old trusty” Camelbak was all I needed (or wanted) to get me through to bedtime!
