I made more attempts at trying to “Snatch” 165 pounds today than I would care to admit…….It Ain’t Easy!

Well, my trainer had decided (prior to my arrival and without my input) that today was gonna be a PR (Personal Record) day for me on the Olympic Exercise “Snatching”. So, although I am not sure I was really “up for it”, that is what we sought out to do during this morning’s workout. As you can see in the Video of me Failing for the 9 millionth time of the morning, Snatching at the top end of your ability level can be “challenging” at best. After doing about a gazillion (failed) attempts at 165 pounds, I was shocked when we dropped it 5 measly pounds and I threw it right up over my head and stuck it. 5 pounds! And, after about 15 failures at the heavier weight. Frustrating. Anyhow, that was the strength portion of the day. After that, we did a 21-15-9 of Deadlifts @ 225 pounds and Box Jumps . You may not know what that is. But, suffice it to say, I definitely got every bit of my morning’s exercise requirement handled before I headed back home for the workday! And, as usual, I was not there for anything even modestly approximating a “marathon workout”. Folks, if you cannot get your daily exercise complete in 45 minutes or less, you may need to re-think that which you are doing for exercise. Exercise should be short and intense….Yes. Even for you. For Everyone. Give it your best effort and head home. There is not much use…in my estimation……for a leisurely workout at your local gym. And, strolls around your neighborhood are great….for your mental wellbeing and relaxation and some socializing. Leisurely strolls are NOT exercise folks. If you can have a chat with your walking partner …..without getting out of breath….you are probably not exercising! When you are actually exercising at your best effort, the last thing on Earth you will be thinking about is having a chat with anyone about anything….until the act of exercise has come to its conclusion! Enough on that….let’s talk about food…………

Prior to heading to that very fun workout, I had thrown back another one of my famous Protein Shakes and a handful of Organic Blueberries. So, I was feeling pretty good when my shadow first darkened the door of the Sky’s the Limit Facility.

When I got back home, I immediately whipped up another Big Dawg Protein Shake. And, I chased it down the hatch with one of those Cranberry and Seeds Trio Bars. I love those suckers. And, if my “Age Management” Guru Doc is eating them, I guess they are good enough for me too……especially as part of my post-workout Glycogenic Window fulfillment calories. Perfect compliment to that protein shake…..Time to grab a glass of Unsweetened Organic Iced Tea and head upstairs to get to work!

I was meeting my dad at McCormick’s for lunch today. I guess it really didn’t matter where we met…..the poor man is the Charlie Brown of lunch eating. No matter where we go, he always has a bad experience. And, bad food. And, it is not just that he is a complainer…..bad stuff just always happens to him wherever he eats. And, sub-standard food seems to be the normal fare regardless of the menu selection he has chosen. Unfortunately, today, his bad luck actually seeped over into MY food! And, I think we all know how I feel about the quality of my food. I was not at all happy when my Veggies were just crummy tasting today…..first time ever that way at McCormick’s….they have been perfect the 200 times I have ordered them that way before today. And, the Wild Corvina (blackened supposedly) was really just a bland slab of white fish. I did eat the fish despite the lack of flavor. But, the Veggies were so bad that I could only down about half of them. And, as you know, I NEVER leave food on my plate. Regardless of how bad it was…..the pic still looks good. And, you get the idea of what you should be eating yourself. Some lean meat and some pan Sauteed veggies. Feel free to have them cook th0se veggies in olive oil, real butter, and some sea salt. None of that will spike your blood insulin or glucose levels. And, therefore, none of it is going to make you fat. Yes. Even the Real Butter. Eat it! I do. Every single day two or three times per day!

After lunch, I headed back to get back on the phone at the office. But, after a couple of hours of that, I started feeling another hankering for some caloric intake. And, I also was kind of thinking I wouldn’t mind having a little break from my environment for a few minutes. So, I didn’t have one of the girls make me up my Almond Butter and Apple snack. I went down and did it myself. Organic Pink Lady Apple Slices with Raw Organic Artisana Apple Butter……Is there any better way to take a mid-afternoon break?!

Back to the phone….for a couple more hours. And, then, it was time to see what my lovely wife had in store for us for dinner. Actually, she had texted me with the surprise. Tonight, she was making her special Flank Steak recipe. And, I could not wait. Flank Steak, you ask? Yes. Flank Steak. When you marinate it for half the day in real garlic cloves and soy sauce and honey and pepper and olive oil, I assure you that Flank Steak is THE BOMB. I wish she would make it weekly. (Perhaps that is why she doesn’t.) Anyhow, tonight was the night. You throw the whole thing on the grill as one big piece of meat. Then, when you pull the whole thing off the grille, you wrap it in aluminum foil and let it “chill” for about 5 minutes. No. I don’t know why. But, my wife makes us do it that way every time we make it. She always pairs it with black beans and some shredded cheese…..Wow. I love that combination. And, tonight, she had sliced and grilled up some organic yellow onions as a special little side. They were sauteed to the point that they were nearly blackened and almost crunchy. (Probably might have cooked the nutrition right out of those suckers. But, man. Were they ever good!) Oh. As usual, I am forgetting the salad. I suggest you not be found guilty of not eating salad with dinner….as well as any other meal of the day where it fits. That green leafy stuff…..organic only please when eating leafy stuff especially….is really good for the oxidative stress that we all have within our inner environments. Tonight, we ate some more of that Organic Girls Baby Kale with baby tomatoes, etc. Angie mixed together a couple of garlic type store-bought dressings to make her own little quick mixture (that I love.) And, we topped it all off with some organic Colby cheese from door-to-door organics. Wine? Oh yes. I opened a bottle of some Spanish Red that a buddy had mentioned when I was at his house last Saturday night. It was just fine really…..and, very affordable compared to most of what is down that cellar. But, I don’t know that I will run out and purchase a case of it. I’ll think on it…….Regardless, my dinner was a very serious hit with my belly. And, as I sit here writing this at 10:30 at night, I still don’t feel the slightest twinge of craving for anything…..cept for the water out of my BPA Free Camelbak Water Bottle that is sitting her next to me as my evening’s blogging companion.
