Had to let the body rest today. No Exercise. And, I needed the break! But, don’t worry. No food went in this body that would cause me to deviate from my “flat lined” insulin and glucose levels! Oops. Wrote that before “Movie Night”……

IMG_4501Morning:  You can probably take a guess and hit the bullseye on this one.  No change. I drank my favorite protein shake and I ate a good-sized bowl of organic strawberries.  Washed it all down with my Organic Unsweetened Iced Tea.  (Charly Kate stuck with her norm too.  A sliced Organic Pink Lady Apple.  And, Free Range Deer and Wild Boar Summer Sausage. )  Aren’t we IMG_4514a couple of low glycemic eaters?!

I spent a couple of hours on the phone in the office and decided it was time to give the old body another protein IMG_4502boost.  Time for another of David’s Protein Shakes.  And, as usual, I liked it just as much (if not better) than the last one.  You would too….if you just tried it the way I make it.  Take a look for yourself.

In truth, if I didn’t feel that I needed a break from the home office, I wouldn’t mind just having 4 protein shakes in a row…..followed by a nice dinner.  I think I like the shakes as much…(or more than)….the food I eat.  But, I do believe I need a break from the office…even on days when I am not exercising.  (If your body is telling you not to exercise, I suggest you don’t push it.  And, IMG_4516that is what mine was telling me today. )  But, it was also telling me that some nice wild fish would probably be real good in the old belly.  And, since I have been kicking myself for 24 hours for being unwise enough to NOT order the Wild Barramundi at Grande Street Cafe yesterday, I decided that I would head straight there and correct that glaring error.  Wow.  The fish was fantastic.  And, whoever sauteed my veggies today really knew what I was talking about!  (I like veggies to be lightly browned.  I rarely get to cook my own.  So, it is rare that they are “just right”….except in Angie’s kitchen.)  Today, the veggies were even more of a delight than usual.   The only thing I could say negative about them was that there were not more.  (I even ate the couple of pieces that I accidentally pushed off my plate onto the bar countertop….and, God only knows what had been on that countertop before they hit it.  But, I was not wasting them, regardless!)

Following lunch, I headed back for home and spent a few more hours on the phone before
IMG_4260heading downstairs to try to figure out how to resolve a slight food emergency.  In short:  The Raw Organic Almond Butter that I ordered from the Living Tree Community is still not here.  (I ordered it last Tuesday.  This is Thursday.  So, I definitely planned PLENTY ahead.  Somebody there has dropped the ball.)  I have now had the girls buy one jar of the stuff you can get at Whole Foods about every 2 days for a week….just trying to tide me over until my stuff arrives.  I really thought it would arrive today.  So, I did not have them rush out and get me anymore………………Sadly,  I was wrong.  And, as such, the only “almond butter” left in the house (after the making of that last protein shake) is the Roasted non-organic stuff that probably has about the same level of nutrients in it that can be found in a ream of copier paper.  And, not only is it of no benefit to your health, but it also tastes like a ream of copier paper.  And, I just could not get excited about my apple slices being dipped into it….as is my “norm” about this time of my average day.  So, to try to make this long story a little shorter…and, get to the point………I decided to dump that stuff into another one of my protein shakes and try to act like it was the IMG_4513organic almond butter.  And, that is what I did.  It didn’t really work.  But, I assure you that it worked better than trying to dip my apple slices into some of that roasted stuff. I just cannot do it anymore now that I have been spoiled to the good stuff.  (Don’t fret.  One of the caregivers is going to stop by Whole Foods on the way to work tomorrow and get 3 more jars of their Raw Organic Almond Butter…just in case the delivery from Living Tree Community still doesn’t arrive.)

Well, I survived.  And, the day wore on.  I knew Angie was working on something special down there in the Kitchen.  And, my belly knew it too.  “Roasted Chicken with Spring Vegetables” was the official title.  And, it promised to be good….even though it was her first time at trying it.  I headed down and IMG_4519opened our very last split of the 2006 Chianti Classico Reserva by Felsina and poured us each half of the half-sized bottle.  Sad to see that little booger go……but, it seemed like the night for drinking it.  I then tried to keep myself from asking when dinner time was by chomping on a handful of almonds.  And, yes.  I accidentally grabbed the wrong ones again….the roasted ones.  When I realized it, I only ate a few….but, still.  Eat the Raw ones if you are inclined to have almonds!  Dinner was IMG_4522finally served.  And, although Angie was not sure about how she felt about it, I thought it was the best flavor and presentation of chicken that I could remember eating at home in this lifetime.  Well, without a doubt, it was in the top 3.  I loved it.  Don’t worry.  I only ate one of those carrots.  (They are really a little too high on the glycemic scale to be a great source of calories in your evening meal….or, really any other meal either for that matter.  I normally don’t put them in my mouth.)

All in all, another great day of eating what David Eats.  Sadly, I finished eat by eating a bowl IMG_4528of popcorn that my wife had made.  Don’t panic.  If you are going to eat popcorn, you will do the least amount of harm to yourself if you prepare it like Angie does……….Organic popping corn, coconut oil, and a bit of sea salt.  That is it.  And, I promise you that it is better than the stuff you got at the movie theater when you were a kid.

Please rest assured that you don’t need anything else for the night.  And, you really don’t need the popcorn.  I don’t know why I ate it….other than to simply go along with the crowd…..my girls….as they had “movie night” with their momma and me.

Over and out.
