May I make a quick note here.  If you have watched my video on how to make my protein shake successfully, you know that I like to dig a hole in the top of all the protein powder and organic flax seed that I have poured in on top of the 04 06 Familiar Place for Almond Butterwater.  If you will take a look a this overhead shot here, you will see why…….simply put, by doing so, you create a funnel shaped “reserve” for the Organic Raw Almond Butter that you are about to heap onto the top of everything.  And, this “reserve” keeps the almond butter from being able to touch the sides of your shaker cup before you get started shaking things up.  (You don’t want it touching the sides of the shaker cup.  If it does, it will likely stick to the sides.  And, you will lose some of your nutrition in the dishwasher instead of you belly!  We don’t want that.  Do we?”

 

04 05 CK for BreakfastSorry for another interjection here.  But, I must show you a picture of what my 8 year old chose for her breakfast this morning.  As you can see, no waffles, no pancakes………nope.  She chose…..as is her norm…..a bit of  Wild Venison and Boar Sausage paired with Organic Pink Lady Apple Slices.  Great way to start any kid’s day!!!!!!!  (I am sure I have mentioned this.  But, the sausage that goes in our bellies is sourced from free range animals.  I hope your sausage is too!)

04 06 around 4 pmDavid’s Mid Morning Snack:  Protein Shake

No lunch time exercise cuz we were on our way to an all day business meeting.

Lunch:  Pan Roasted chicken served with sauteed zucchini and yellow squash.  Paired this with a fantastic salad of mixed greens with blue cheese crumbles and a vinaigrette dressing.  Forgot to take a photo…..sorry!

 

Now, as you heard me mention above, I had an all-day business meeting with my insurance agency.  We had a conference room down at the InterContinental Hotel at the Plaza.  In short, I was going to be away from my house for lunch and the entire afternoon all the way leading up to dinner.  Folks, if you get yourself into that type of a commitment, take a minute and plan for your nutritional needs IN ADVANCE!  Otherwise, your body is going to start thinking it needs something and you are going to have some very poor choices from which to choose to feed it.  (Has that ever happened to you….and, how did it play out?……not well, huh?)  A lot of success in Eating What your Belly Should Eat is a result of planning in advance to make sure you have appropriate food sources with you or available.  You should take your food planning seriously.  If you don’t, you are going to be looking for “quick fixes”.  And, there aren’t many that would fall into the category of Eating What Your Belly Actually Needs.  The actual purpose of putting food in your body is not really for your enjoyment so much as it is mainly for your body’s nutritional needs.  Eat for nutrition….not for your entertainment!

With the aforementioned in mind, I took with me to the meeting:

For Mid Afternoon:  Protein Shake.  Yes.  That meant that I had to pack a backpack of stuff with me to make it.  I even took my container of honey and almond butter with me.  It was the exact same ingredients that go in all my Protein Shakes.  And, it surely generated a few laughs from the other folks at the meeting……and, then, some interest I think….as they realized that I was Eating What They should be Eating!  And, I guaranteed you that my protein shake tasted a lot better than the candy bar that most of them probably considered grabbing out of the vending machines…..or, the chips that might be purchased from the same poor source!

As you might guess, our sales meeting ended with the typical big-time dinner you might expect in Kansas City, Missouri.  Most of the folks at the meeting were in from out of 04 05 Salad at dinnertown.  And, they wanted a Kansas City Steak and more.  And, I am not sure there is a better place in the city…..(especially now that J.J.’s was destroyed by fire)…… than 801 Chop House in the Kansas City Power and Light District!  And, although that might make you think of a bunch of starchy (glycemic spiking) side dishes to pair alongside your steak…..it makes me and my wife think of all the fresh veggies that we can order to compliment ours!  Wow.  They have a magical way to prepare Brussel Sprouts and green beans and spinach and mushrooms…..It is making my mouth water as I relive the spread that was set before us.  As you can see, I added a lobster 04 05 Dinner at Chop Housetail (with Real Butter for dipping) to my filet and veggies.  But, I started it all off with a mixed green salad with sliced almonds, strawberries, and a nice white vinaigrette over the top of it.  When people tell me that eating low glycemic means eating stuff with no flavor and with very little variety, I cannot help but think of meals like this one…..which, quite frankly, happens to be very similar to my dinner meal at my own home EVERY single night of the week!  Just do it, people.  Eat What David Eats!!

One more note about my Bonanza of a meal:  There is nothing on that plate that doesn’t fall into the category of Just Eating What David Eats…..and, there is nothing on that plate that will make your belly get fat and/or fatter.  Why?  Very Simple.  Cuz Nothing that went in my belly caused me to have any kind of a glycemic spike.  (Don’t worry.  I did not have a Boulevard Beer……I drank Red Wine.  If you are going to drink, this is, of course, your safest bet.)  Avoid glycemic spikes and you avoid a fat belly!  Make your belly happy.  Eat What I Eat!

04 06 after 2 pmAfter returning home, I must admit that I grabbed a handful of almonds on the way up to bed.  As you know, I rarely eat after my evening meal.  But, if you are going to feel like you have to throw something into the old belly, please have it be 7 or 8 Raw Almonds……not a half dozen of your favorite, salty, glycemic spiking chips!
