Another Day, Another Dollar, Another Bit of High Intensity/Low Duration Exercise……and, a bit of Food to make it all work together!

I won’t delay the inevitable for too long.  I might as well go ahead and report to you that I, Protein Shakeonce again, consumed an Isagenix Protein Shake as the majority of my breaking the fast calories.  (You know the drill.  Almost two scoops of Undenatured Whey Vanilla protein sourced solely from New Zealand hormone free, anti-biotic free, grass fed Dairy Cows.  And, almost one full scoop of the Chocolate Meal Replacement powder that contains a few other goodies in it (along with that same Whey Protein), two heaping tablespoons of almond butter, a heaping tablespoon of flax seed…..and, I skipped the teaspoon of honey all day today in each of my shakes.  Not sure why I did it…….other than to avoid the sugar calories that one finds in honey….albeit natural sugar calories.  I have thought on it all day.   And, even my age management doc in Vegas is telling me I may be making a mountain out of a molehill with the whole honey issue.  So, tomorrow, don’t be surprised if I am drinking it again.  I do know one thing:  My protein shake is about to get some stuff added to it.  What about honey pollen?  How can something that is 40% protein in its makeup and is the sole source of nutrition for baby bees possibly be bad for the thCA82A40Xhuman body?  I did some research on it in the Livestrong website (after reading the marketing blurb about it on Living Tree Community’s website…where they sell it, of course).  And, although there are no real studies proving or disproving its benefits, I may start throwing some in there.  For now, I finished my morning meal with my customary 6 strawberries and a bit of my organic unsweetened iced tea. ……………………….Wow.  Magic!  Ready for another day in the life of David………….

IMG_4325Well, I knew that today was a CrossFit-for-lunch day.  So, I had already planned on another of those same protein shakes around 10:30 am.  And, that is exactly what I had…..Wow.  Not sure which one was my favorite of the two identically prepared shakes.  But, I can tell you one thing for sure:  I LOVED them both!

After a bit of High Intensity exercise at Sky’s the Limit , I joined my lovely wife for lunch at ……..wait for it…….you guess it, the Grande Street Cafe.  My choice of lunch was the pork chop paired with sauteed zucchini, yellow squash, and onions.  Please note that I did scrape IMG_4356whatever that sauce was right off the top of that chop and onto a side plate.  (If I order that delectable thing again, I will tell them to abstain from putting whatever that was over the top of it.)  My wife had the smarter choice of lunch for the day…simply cuz I have not had it in a while……the Oven Roasted chicken paired with green beans and brussel sprouts!  Either of these dishes will suit your IMG_4357Low Glycemic needs very nicely.  So, feel free to choose with reckless abandon ………Regardless of what you do, please decline the optional (and free) “bread service” before or during your meal.  And, please……drink water or unsweetened iced tea as your beverage.  (You don’t really want coffee at lunch, do you?  If so, have at it.  Yuck.)  NOTE:  Rick brought us out something that Chef had thrown together before our thCALNLWEQentree……..bacon wrapped dates with some sort of special sauce/mixture.  Wow.  They were awesome.  And, unlike bread, they won’t derail your low glycemic day.  Forgot to grab a picture of them.  My apologies.  Sorry for having to steal a generic one off the internet.  But, you get the idea.

After a couple more hours on the phone chatting with potential clients, I started sensing that photosomewhat empty sensation somewhere just around my beltline.  (There is a slight possibility that the catalyst for these sensations was when my wife passed briefly through my office with a plate of Organic Pink Lady apple slices paired with Sunflower Seed Butter.)  I am not sure about the SunFlower Seed Butter.  So, when I went down to make my own similar plate, I paired it with the very last of the Raw Almond Butter from Living Tree Community.   Don’t worry yourself.  I am getting on their website and ordering it by the bucket as soon I get done with this food posting.  I am not kidding.  They sell it by the bucket.  It costs way more than liquid gold.  But, it is worth a lot more….to me anyway….than that particular metal.  Dang.  I forgot the cheese.  (File Photo)  Don’t worry.  That won’t happen again tomorrow!  NOTE: If you are still trying to get your belly to look like it did 8th grade, I would suggest skipping the whole plate of fruit and almond butter here.  A handful of about 15 almonds will get you through to dinner without any glycemic spike worth mentioning.  (I cannot say the same for what occurred within me internally a short while after I ingested this entire apple!)

Well, finally.  Time for another dinner entry.  And, I knew this was a possible hit or miss.  My dear bride was trying something new……..I guess the change was out of sheer 4097103836_9aa3fc771cboredom….and/or simply a craving for a bit of Beef and Broccoli.  And, that is exactly what we had…with some grilled onions (I love grilled onions) mixed in to add a little bit of flavor for David.  The recipe she used had a smidgen of corn starch in it to thicken the broth.  May I just state that you should NEVER use corn starch.  And, Angie agreed with me that it wouldn’t be happening again after we saw the result.  (It made the au jus too thick….and, it probably spiked our insulin levels about the equivalent of 1/2 of a candy bar.)  I am pretty sure that I am going to live.  But, I know that we both felt a lot like the “old days” of eating high on the wheat………..(you know…..when you felt like taking a long slow nap after your evening’s meal.)                   Anyhow, we are still here.  But, let’s mark this up to a learning experience!

IMG_4219I am now drinking from my trusty CamelBak BPA water bottle (water full) hoping to wash away a bit of that which I earlier ingested.  I will let you know how it works out in the morning…….my guess is about 1/4 inch added to my belly button waist measurement at the wakeup call…………..!

Let this be a lesson to us all……………..Don’t Eat Corn Starch if you care at all about your belly bubble!

Out for now.
