No Exercise Today. Need a day off. Just a lot of Office Work….and, a bunch of Low Glycemic Awesome Food that found its way to my Belly!

IMG_4463I had to get my blood drawn this morning….which was a fairly unpleasant experience.  So, I didn’t get to ingest anything while my lovely daughter was throwing back some Free Range Wild Deer and Boar Sausage with her Organic Berries this morning.  (She is on a roll with that stuff, isn’t she?!)  Worse yet, it meant that I had to “fast” from 8 pm last night until 8:45 am this morning (when they finally completed the draw.)  I then rushed home to make up one of my Protein Shakes.  I do Protein Shakenot really enjoy
“fasting” in the orning…..especially when it is “forced” (like when you have a fasting blood draw.)  After enjoying every drop of my shake’s contents…..see dropdown on front page of blog….I grabbed myself some organic strawberries and blueberries and my Unsweetened Organic Iced Tea and headed up to the office to start my day of work.  Whew!  Barely made it…………….
Protein ShakeAs you can imagine, I was feeling a bit depleted by the morning’s events.  So, I started looking around for Shake # 2 about mid-morning.  And, by 10:45 AM, I could wait no longer.  Shake # 2 Down the Hatch.  Loved it just as much as #1!

Since I did not exercise today, I was not out of the house around the lunch hour.  Part of me debated just having Protein Shake # 3……..and, calling it good.  And, I know I would have loved that option.  But, my lovely wife came around the corner and offered to join me wherever I was going to lunch.  So, I had to come up with something……….and, Grande Street it was…..again.  Unfortunately, I did not have my thinking cap on
squarely when we arrived there and placed our order.  Angie wisely ordered the Wild Barramundi…..at my urging….and, I ordered shrimp.  Are you kidding me?  Sauteed shrimp IMG_4469is great.  But, three days in a row!??  And, when her fish came, I really knew I had dropped the ball.  Thank Goodness.  There was a literal ton of fish IMG_4470on her plate…  And, I knew there was no chance she was going to get through all of it.  So, as it turned out, I got to eat the shrimp. …again….sauteed with my favorite yellow squash, zucchini, and onions (in olive oil and real butter)……….and, I also got to eat a pretty good chunk of the Barramundi too.  Another great and low glycemic lunch for both of us.  Angie drank water.  I drank iced tea….unsweetened of course.

When I returned home from lunch, there was a package at the front door for me from the IMG_4465Living Tree Community.    Good news.  My 6 packages of Organic Raw (Alive) Flax Seed had made it home!  I could hardly wait to throw some into my afternoon shake…….cuz, in truth, I have been eating Grocery store flax seed for the last few days thanks to a horrible accidental depletion of all my stores of the Organic variety.  You can all rest easily this evening.  I am back to Organic Raw Flax Seed……..and, with the quantity that I ordered, I should be good to go for a pretty long time.  And, you can also rest assured that I will be re-ordering before I get close to a “total depletion” situation again!

Protein ShakeAfter a few more hours on the phone in the office, it was time to try the aforementioned flax seed in a shake.  I popped downstairs and whipped one up and drank it down………Yes!  Just like the old days of last week that I remember all too well.  The right stuff tastes better, folks……..in addition to being better for you.  Don’t skimp on food.  If you must make cuts, how about skimp on your mall bill……….not your food!

Well, the day is drawing near to done.  And, I would bet that you are wondering what I ate for dinner…..almost as much as I was looking forward to eating it.  But, before we get there, let me show you a few things you should see in your kitchen each night….or, at least, regularly….if you are going to IMG_4479Eat What David Eats…..First, you will need a beautiful wife who knows how to prepare fantastic food and how happens to value the importance of eating quality organic food as much as you do.  I just happen to have one that can be found in our kitchen every evening about the time I make it down the stairs from work.  There she is………….

Next, you need to have some fresh stuff to cook.  And, we just happen to have our share…..and, Angie (and/or the girls) chop and dice it all immediately before it goes IMG_4474into the saute pans.  (If your veggies are coming OUT of a box, they are probably going to taste LIKE the box. ) IMG_4487Make sense to you?  It does to me.  Check out all the freshly diced and sliced veggies that I saw as I walked around the kitchen this evening………good IMG_4486stuff!  By the way, I think I have said it previously……but, just as a reminder, there really isn’t much more important than fresh garlic when one is cooking one’s dinner……Get Some!

Next, you are going to need Saute pans….probably a number of them……and, probably pretty big.  Cooking food fresh takes the “right stuff” ….as my wife mentioned to me tonight.  And, in this case, the “right IMG_4493stuff” was a big Wok pan into which my wife eventually threw all the veggies and the free range organic chicken breast that she had sliced up for the evening’s fare!  Oh, take note of the stir-fry sauce that she whipped together.  She got the recipe somewhere and modified it in a manner that would allow us to avoid a complimentary huge glycemic IMG_4476spike along with our dinner caloric intake.  (How did she modify it?  For one, you can bet she dropped the “corn starch”.  Can anything good happen to your body when you ingest something named Corn Starch?  No.  And, do you really need your stir-fry sauce “thickened”anyway?  No.  Skip the corn starch.  Or, use another recipe.  Period.)

Wait.  We forgot one very important item…..No.  Don’t fret.  I did not forget to open a fantastic bottle of Red IMG_4485California Wine.  How about a 2004 Bottle of Two Rock Table Wine?  Google it.  Buy some.  Yours won’t be 9 years old.  But, this wasn’t either when we bought it about 7 years ago.  And, to tell you the truth, it was good then too.  (Admittedly, it has just gotten better and better each year……we had 7 cases of it originally….long story…..we are down to the last 6 bottles….and, coveting each and every one of them like solid bars of Platinum.)  Pair that with your dinner.  And, you cannot go wrong……and, we didn’t.

Another great day of Eating What David Eats.

Over and Out.

Oooops.  Almost forgot to show you what my plate looked like after all the dust had cleared.  20130409-191357.jpgSince I am eating for nutrition, I rarely leave any of my “nutrients” on the plate anymore when I consider myself “done” with my meal.  (Yes.  I know that is not like my “old days”.)  And, tonight was no exception.  I hope your plate looks like mine…..and, I really hope that your plate does not have any veggies left on it uneaten.  Remember, your brain needs those veggie carbs.  We are not eating the other carbs.  So, the veggie carbs become pretty important in the grand scheme of your body’s nutrient needs……………Oh.  And, they just happen to taste really really good!

Love this! Although I would have chosen Wheat free, Gluten free Tamari soy sauce. Also found at Whole Foods and favored by most foodies. 🙂
