A Sunday of “Eating What My Belly Needs”

Well, normally, I let my lovely wife get up at her leisure on Sundays while I keep the rowdies at bay.  But, today, she rolled out of bed just before the little beauties awakened and let me rise at MY leisure!  Yes…………………!  (Stayed in bed until 8:51 AM!!!)

IMG_4099As I headed down to the main level, my belly started its daily yearning for a Chocolate Vanilla flavored almond butter and honey drink.  And, as it happened….and, not by accident (I might add)…..I have just the ticket waiting for production from the pantry shelves!  Time for David’s all-time favorite Isagenix Protein Shake Mixture.  (Recipe on the main screen dropdown, if you want it.)

I would have loved to top it off  with a huge bowl of strawberries.  But, alas, the triplets had already downed two whole containers.  And, none for Dad!  (See what I mean about making sure you have the right stuff available.  Always plan ahead so YOU don’t have this same calamity befall you.  No strawberries makes for a very unhappy belly!)  If, unlike us, you DO have some in your fridge….or, better yet, some blueberries……now would be a good time to consume them!

IMG_4205Well, my belly never really did recover from being short-changed at its initial try at breaking the fast.  And, as a result, I couldn’t help but be tempted by the idea of cooking up some of Trader Joe’s Uncured no growth hormone (no bad stuff) bacon……..for the girls.  (And, as long as I was at it, I figured it would probably be a good idea to make an omelette for myself and throw a little bit of that same bacon in with it as well as some locally sourced Colby Jack Cheese.  I know.  I should have thrown a bunch of veggies in there with it as well.  But, I didn’t.  You should if you are following my lead…..and, are looking to make a slightly better choice than I did.)  For those of you that have not had Trader Joe’s Bacon, I suggest you make it an effort to make that happen.  Wow.  I think one of our toddlers could have cooked it up as easy as it was.  Easiest cooking bacon on the planet.  And, without a doubt, the best tasting!  Check out my omelette!  Oh.  And, in case you aren’t aware of it, nothing makes your omelette taste better than a bit of Trader Joe Salsa over the top of it.

Protein ShakeWell, lunch never did really happen at the Curry House today.  (We got 8 inches of snow.  And, I guess we were all just feeling like being lazy.)  So, lunch for folks who want to Eat What David Eats was an Isagenix Protein Shake.  IMG_4190(Feel free to substitute a pork chop with brussel sprouts sauteed in olive and real butter should you have the energy to prepare it.

(Although I did not eat the Chop pictured to your right today……….That is EXACTLY what I had for lunch yesterday…..And, as I wolfed it down, I couldn’t help but wonder to myself ….for the 9 millionth time….how people could truly find it hard to eat a Low Glycemic diet.  Do you see anything about my lunch from yesterday that doesn’t make you want to trade it for whatever YOU ate for lunch yesterday?!

IMG_4214After ingesting my yummy protein shake, I  had an Isagenix Oatmeal and Raisin Protein bar…………as a little supplement to my afternoon calories………………..

IMG_4209Following that, I ate one of those little Oranges that you can peel without having to solicit the help of an adult.  Cannot think of the name of them.  But, as you can see, even a 3 year old can peel one.  And, man, are they good!

IMG_4067Since I was informed by the kitchen staff that dinner might be a bit later than normal, I also decided to do some “tiding me over” with a handful of Raw Almonds.  I didn’t gorge myself on them…..really just enough to get me through to dinner.  (This is a file picture.  I think I ate about 7 more than these pictured here.)

IMG_4216As it turned out, the “kitchen staff” wasn’t quite as in the mood to eat as I was.  So, the dinner start time got pushed back a bit more than my belly wanted to endure. So, I decided to eat one little piece of salami with some Colby Jack cheese.  As you can see by the picture, it wasn’t much……….But, it did do the trick!

IMG_4217Finally, it was time for dinner.  My wife had made a trip to Whole Foods.  And, once again, we were being treated to their fresh shrimp sauteed in coconut oil, real butter, sea salt….and, whatever other magic she throws in there that makes it so darn good.  (Best Chef in the World…..without exception.)  We would normally have
sauteed veggies with this bit….after our salad.  But, we had a long night out last night…and, no nanny help today with the rowdy bunch….and, I believe that she decided that the salad would have to serve as our “green stuff” for the evening.  The salad had baby tomatoes in it and aged blue cheese crumbles with Angie’s homemade dressing….which is kind of similar to a balsamic vinaigrette.  There weren’t any red sliced onions in the salad.  (Beggars cannot be choosers.)   But, if you like onions, they have been proven to be of great health benefit….(in addition to being very tasty!)….So, if you are making your OWN salad, add some in there.  It will do your body….and, your belly……..good!   As you can see, there is usually a glass of red wine in most of my dinner pictures.  And, tonight was no exception.  2007 Ridge Geyserville Zin.  Nice way to cap off a fantastic dinner!  I don’t know if you can tell it.  But, I dumped the remaining butter/garlic/coconut oil mixture out of the bottom of the pan onto my shrimp and my plate.  (Good Stuff!)

IMG_4219I know you are starting to wonder if this bottomless pit ever started to feel full.  And, I did.  In fact, following dinner, I filled up “Old Trusty”……(my Camelbak Waterbottle)……(with water and ice)…..and, hit the couch with my eldest to finish the Hobbit movie.  I have found that water is really what I crave in the evening after dinner.  And, with my bottle in hand, I really don’t want for much else.

IMG_4174But, having said that, I did stop by the almond bag as I was heading up the stairs just now to read before bed.  And, I grabbed myself a final handful of raw amonds before calling it a day of Eating What David Eats………………Over and Out!
