An Early Wake up Call for my Thursday Morning Exercise……Some Wild Fish for Lunch……….and, Leftovers for Dinner. Now, THAT is what I am talking about……!

As has become my norm, I arose well before the sun this morning to make the trek out to Grain Valley Missouri for CrossFit Training with Carl at CrossFit Cerberus. I think this was about the 6th visit with Carl….or, maybe more….all of them primarily aimed at the idea of me successfully performing Kipping Pullups. Although I am still not “there”, I will grudgingly admit that I get a little better each time I go out there. Here again, we see how David’s slight tendency towards impatience is playing against him a little bit as he tries to win the mental mind game of being patient for progress. Anyhow, even if I have not mastered “Kipping”, I am definitely getting good exercise…which will lead to present and future good health. And, isn’t that the whole point anyhow?! 🙂

Before I headed for Grain Valley, I had my morning Protein Shake…with all the normal stuff in it. But, I was totally out of time after the 7.5 minutes it takes to prepare that sucker….and, slam it down….(32 seconds for the “slamming down” part.) And, although I had promised I would stop doing this, I skipped the Organic Berries for the drive out there……again. I was simply out of time. (I did grab some Iced Tea. But, that was literally all the time I had left to me.)

And, sadly, when I got about 2 miles away from my house on the way to CrossFit, I noticed that I had, once again, forgotten to grab something to fill my Glycogenic Window that was bound to occur as soon as I walked out of the door of the gym…….and, which was definitely going to close on me well before my return back to my home. (As you may remember, the drive is almost 40 minutes.) So, once again, I determined that there was no real good reason to eat anything when I got back to my home. I figured I would be hungry at 10:30 again anyway. So, I just waited for it to roll around. When it did, I grabbed an AMRAP Protein Bar. This is about the only true Paleo bar that actually tastes good! They use real honey to sweeten it. So, the sugar calories are a little high for my liking. But, the list of ingredients is about 5 words long…….and, all of them are things you recognize that could have come out of your own pantry……..coconut, almond, honey, etc. And, I paired it with a big helping of Organic BlueBerries and Raspberries….and, some of my Unsweetened Iced Tea to wash it all down. Good stuff.

I waited as long as I could bear it to head for lunch. But, the anticipation of what I knew I was going to eat finally drove me out the door. I was headed for McCormick’s…….and, it was my most sincere intention to get myself a fantastic piece of Blackened Corvina for my mid-day’s fare. And, that is exactly what I did. And, as you may have already guessed, I asked the server to have them ixnay the potatoes or risotto (or whatever starch they had planned to put with it) and had them replace it with some perfectly prepared Pan Sauteed Zucchini and Squash. Wow. I asked for them in olive oil and real butter. I assume that is what they used. Whatever it was, it rocked! I actually made the conscious decision to finish that great piece of fish first….before my Veggies….so the last taste that would hit my tongue would be the Zucchini/Squash mixture. They will be seeing me again at McCormick’s in the not-too-distant future. (Yes. I know it is a chain. But, out of selfishness, I am going to overlook that fact that for the foreseeable future. Man. That was fantastic!!)

A few hours back in the office, and I couldn’t help but start thinking about my mid-afternoon “Snack”. And, in truth, I decided that a little exercise wouldn’t hurt either. And, the stairs (down and back up) sounded like a perfect option for the exercise……..and, the Pink Ladies that showed up today with our Door-to-Door Organics order (paired with a nice chunk of Artisana Almond Butter) seemed like a great way to satiate my temporary hunger. As always, I actually stopped work and enjoyed my snack. Food tastes better when you give it your full attention……..don’t you agree?

Dinner was on its way. And, Angie had promised to cook the Wild Halibut that we had had delivered to us from Door-to-Door Organics today. But, neither one of us had thought far enough ahead to realize that they would have to freeze it to have it couriered to us. And, as such, it was not thawed when we hit the main level to start thinking about dinner. In truth, that was probably just as well. I had already had fish for lunch. And, the backup dinner option was leftover Pecan Encrusted Chicken Breasts from last night paired with some Organic Green Beans sauteed with fresh garlic (literally fresh…chopped out of the garlic bulb while I watched) and whatever else she puts in that pan to make it so darn great. (I took a pic of the remainder of the beans that were still in the pan with whatever stuff was still on them. Maybe you can figure it out.) Those are the best beans IN THE WORLD. Everything Angie cooks is the best of its ilk IN THE WORLD for that matter. She doesn’t know it. But, she is a culinary genius. Thank God she likes to Eat What David Eats……and, her body likes her eating What David Eats too. (Wow!!) Anyhow, dinner was great…….and, so was the wine that went with it. In truth, the Napa Merlot from last night……which Angie got to finish…..was a lot better than the Meritage (The Riddler) that I opened behind it. I just bought a case of the stuff. (It may find its way to the proprietary portion of my cellar that is dedicated to those “special” guests that want to know if it would be okay to put some ice cubes and sprite or 7-Up in with their Red Wine that I am planning to serve them………..! Not kidding.)

Well, as you can imagine, not much more is going into this mouth tonight. But, I did take the smallest bite of a Dark Chocolate bar from Door-to-Door Organics. Every once in a while, I don’t feel that I got “full” from my dinner. And, tonight was such a night. That one final bite “broke the camel’s back” though……..and, now, I am (quite honestly) full as a tick! (By the way folks, that bite you see in the picture is all I ate. You don’t need to founder on your “sweet bite”! A little dab really goes a long way when eating something that is bound to spike your blood sugar…..and/or make you “more portly”…. if you overdo it!)
